Samoa Wilson

Black and White photo of woman in front of white cloth with flower pattern and lattice wood wall holding a Ukulele.

Samoa Wilson has been captivating audiences since her youth with a voice described as “sweet and old-timey.” Raised in the riverbed of traditional North American folk music, she flourished in the Boston scene under the wing of jug band and folk legend Jim Kweskin. Her two duos, “The Four O’Clock Flowers” and “Fatboy Wilson & Old Viejo Bones,” have become staples of the thriving New York City folk community.

Samoa’s vintage jazz trio performs material from the golden era of the ‘20s and ‘30s musical treasure, with a sound that is bluesier and contemporary. Her renditions of little-known tunes from a woman’s perspective make her performances truly unique. Sourcing materials that are traditional and classic, she salutes the transformation of women’s works and their triumphs.
