Railroad Adds Extra Train Service to Farmingdale Station to Accommodate Tens of Thousands of Fans
MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) today announced it is adding extra train service to Farmingdale Station to help tens of thousands of golf fans reach the Ryder Cup tournament at Bethpage State Park on Sept. 23-28, 2025.
Fans reaching Farmingdale Station will find complimentary shuttle buses provided by the PGA offering a fifteen-minute ride to the main entrance. Fans are encouraged to purchase round-trip tickets before boarding trains, as tickets bought on board cost more. The most convenient way to purchase LIRR tickets is by using the TrainTime app.
“The Ryder Cup is bringing fans from around the world to Long Island, and the LIRR is the easiest way to be part of it,” said LIRR President Rob Free. “With plenty of fast, frequent service, fans can count on a reliable ride that gets them to and from the action. Whether you're a lifelong fan or first-time visitor, there’s no better way to experience this world-class event than with the LIRR.”
Up to 18,000 fans per day are expected to use the LIRR to reach the tournament. With no parking allowed at Bethpage State Park, or at Farmingdale Station, fans are encouraged to use the LIRR as the best way to avoid traffic and parking hassles.
Complete LIRR details, including fares to Farmingdale, parking information, as well as a list of PGA-issued rules and items prohibited inside Bethpage State Park are available online.
For spectators attending the whole week, they can buy the LIRR’s special event ticket which is good during the Ryder Cup period for unlimited travel systemwide and to and from Farmingdale for $175. The special event ticket is only sold at ticket windows and ticket machines (by selecting “MTA Away Deals”).

Parking Restrictions: There is NO parking available at Farmingdale Station or Bethpage State Park during the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Fans who travel by car must park at Jones Beach, then board shuttle buses to the golf course. Because Farmingdale Station is on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch, Suffolk County residents traveling west to Farmingdale should know that they can park at any LIRR station east of Farmingdale (Ronkonkoma, Central Islip, Brentwood, Deer Park, and Wyandanch) for free on weekends, then take a train to the Ryder Cup. Nassau County residents traveling east to Farmingdale can park on weekends at the Mineola Intermodal Center at Mineola Station. There is a fee to park at Jones Beach and the Mineola Intermodal Center.
For assistance on your way to and from the Ryder Cup, look for LIRR personnel assigned to Farmingdale Station.
Both the North and South LIRR commuter parking lots at Farmingdale will be closed Thursday evening, Sept. 18 and will reopen on Monday, Sept. 29. Commuters will not be permitted to park on the streets or in any other Village parking lots.
LIRR customers who normally drive to Farmingdale Station bound for other destinations are encouraged to use nearby Wyandanch Station, where parking will be available. The MTA/LIRR has arranged for all Farmingdale parking permit holders to park in the parking garage adjacent to the LIRR station in Wyandanch. There will be no charge for Farmingdale Parking Permit holders (with permit affixed) nor will there be an increased LIRR commuter fare for the zone change.
Local residents and commuters looking to board/disembark trains at Farmingdale Station are permitted to walk to the station or be picked up or dropped off at Farmingdale LIRR Station.
