MTA Reminds Customers of Service Changes on 7 Line for Weekend of Oct. 17

  Train Service to Be Suspended Between 34 St-Hudson Yards and 74 St-Broadway Starting 11:30 p.m. Friday, Oct.17 until 3:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20  

 

Free Shuttle Bus Service Will Be Provided Along 3 Routes,   Trains Will Run Every 6 Minutes 

 

LIRR Will Cross-Honor Riders Traveling Between Manhattan and Queens 

 

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reminding customers of accessibility improvements, repairs and track replacement work along the   line, that will require a suspension of service between 34 St-Hudson Yards and 74 St-Broadway during the weekend of October 17. The service suspension will begin at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 and end at 3:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20. During that time, crews will replace track between 69 St in Queens and 34 St-Hudson Yards in Manhattan. This work is part of the MTA’s commitment to a state of good repair and will result in reduced delays and more reliable service for millions of subway customers.   

 

During this suspension,   line service will run between Flushing-Main St and 74 St Broadway in both directions.  

 

Service Alternatives   

 

Free shuttle buses will be run along three routes:  

 

  • Q107 will run between 74 St-Broadway and Queensboro Plaza, making local   stops 

  • Q93 will run between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av 

  • Q92 will run overnight in Manhattan between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards  

 

Subway Service Alternatives  

 

For subway service between Queens and Manhattan, customers are encouraged to consider taking the    or    service will run every 6 minutes from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday Oct. 19. LIRR will cross-honor subway riders traveling between Queens and Manhattan at Flushing, Mets-Willets Point, Woodside, Grand Central Madison, and Penn Station. Check LIRR service and schedules.   

 

The 42 St   Shuttle will run overnight.  

 

Additional MTA Construction and Development (C&D) Work  

 

MTA C&D crews will “piggyback” off this temporary service suspension to continue work on two subway station accessibility projects at 46 St-Bliss St and 33 St-Rawson St, as part of ADA Package 5. Coordinating these C&D projects to coincide with track reconstruction work builds on the MTA’s commitment to “faster, better, cheaper,” which will save riders time from future service outages and create a smoother, more efficient transit system for generations of New Yorkers to come. Crews at 52 St and 69 St are replacing the entire platform pre-cast panels, and crews are doing crucial concrete repairs and electrical work at the 61 St-Woodside station that would not be possible while service is running. There will also be work on the flood gate for the Steinway Tunnel, which carries the   train line under the East River.

MTA app –  Customers who use the comprehensive MTA smartphone app will see real-time train, bus and rail arrival times, and can chat with our customer care team all in one place. The app is available in the Apple Store and in Google Play.   

 

Email & Text Alerts  – Customers can sign up for email and SMS alerts tailored to their specific commutes and travel times. They can also sign up for MTA newsletters like The Weekender, a weekly newsletter that covers major weekend planned service changes. Customers can sign up here.
