UPDATED Wind Advisory: MTA Bridges and Tunnels to Prohibit Certain Trucks from Crossings Beginning Monday, March 16

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced that due to forecasts of high wind conditions, the agency will be implementing a ban on empty tractor-trailers and tandem (piggyback, dual, triple, etc.) trucks at all of our bridges beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026.

 

Based on the current forecast and the timing of this weather event, it is anticipated that the ban will remain in effect until approximately 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. However, the operational period for this restriction will be adjusted as necessary based on current conditions and updated forecasts.

 

The seven bridges where the prohibition will be in effect are:

 

  • Bronx-Whitestone Bridge

  • Cross Bay Bridge

  • Henry Hudson Bridge

  • Marine Parkway Bridge

  • Robert F. Kennedy Bridge

  • Throgs Neck Bridge

  • Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge
