Weather Update: MTA Bridges and Tunnels to Ban Certain Trucks from Sunday, Oct. 12 Through Monday, Oct. 13

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced that due to forecasts of high wind conditions beginning tomorrow afternoon, the agency will prohibit empty tractor-trailers and tandem (piggyback, dual, triple, etc.) trucks from using its seven bridges beginning at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 12. The ban is currently expected to last through 6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13.

The seven bridges where the prohibition will be in effect are listed here:

  • Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
  • Cross Bay Bridge
  • Henry Hudson Bridge
  • Marine Parkway Bridge
  • Robert F. Kennedy Bridge
  • Throgs Neck Bridge
  • Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge
