Wind Advisory: MTA Bridges and Tunnels to Prohibit Certain Trucks from Crossings Beginning Friday, Dec. 19

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced that due to forecasts of high wind conditions beginning this evening, the agency will be implementing a ban on empty tractor-trailers and tandem (piggyback, dual, triple, etc.) trucks at all of our bridges beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.

Based on the current forecast and the timing of this weather event, it is anticipated that the ban will remain in effect until approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025. However, the operational period for this restriction will be adjusted as necessary based on current conditions and updated forecasts.

The seven bridges where the prohibition will be in effect are:

  • Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
  • Cross Bay Bridge
  • Henry Hudson Bridge
  • Marine Parkway Bridge
  • Robert F. Kennedy Bridge
  • Throgs Neck Bridge
  • Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge
