
Chris Pangilinan is the Acting Senior Vice President of the New York City Transit Department of Buses and MTA Bus Company, overseeing North America's largest bus system. With a $3.5 billion budget, a fleet of 5,900 buses, and a workforce of over 18,000, he leads a network that serves roughly 680 million annual riders across the New York City metropolitan area.
Previously, Chris served as Chief of Operations Planning at New York City Transit, where he led the planning and scheduling of the city’s expansive bus and subway systems. He played a pivotal role in finalizing the redesigns of the Queens and Brooklyn bus networks. Before that, as Vice President for Paratransit, he led efforts to deliver 30,000 daily rides to customers with disabilities—achieving record highs in both customer satisfaction and ridership.
Chris's experience extends beyond the MTA. He was Head of Global Policy for Public Transportation and Accessibility at Uber and has held influential roles in federal government, transit advocacy, and transportation agencies in Chicago, San Francisco, and New York.
A passionate advocate for equitable and accessible transit, Chris has dedicated over two decades to improving public transportation. He holds an M.S. in Transportation from MIT and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Portland State University. He is a licensed professional engineer and a certified private pilot.
