How to comment on the MTA’s 2025 proposed changes to fares and tolls

The MTA Board will consider changes to the MTA's fares and tolls. Members of the public wishing to comment on these specific changes, and/or provide feedback on the MTA’s fares were able to submit comments online, over the phone, by mail, and in person, until September 14, 2025. 

Past public comment opportunities

The public comment period ended on September 14, 2025. All comments submitted will be reviewed by the MTA Board and made part of the public record.

Commenters were able to:

  • Submit a written comment.
  • Mail a letter to MTA Government & Community Relations.
  • Call the public comment hotline.
  • Visit a subway station, mobile sales vehicle, or commuter railroad station to submit a comment about the proposed changes to fares and tolls.

The public comment period ended on September 14. 

Past hybrid public hearings

The MTA held three hybrid public hearings on the proposed fare changes:

  • Tuesday, August 19, 6 p.m-9 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 20, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 20, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

All public hearings were held in person at New York City Transit Authority, 130 Livingston Street, 1st Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201 

  • Subway:      to Jay St-MetroTech   to Court St    to Borough Hall    to Borough Hall ( accessible Manhattan-bound only)
  • Bus: B25, B26, B38, B41, B45, B52, B57, B61, B62, B65, B67, B103

Accessible options for accessing the hearings were offered, including a dial-in option, language assistance, American Sign Language, and CART Captioning Services. 

There was also a Zoom option for those who prefer to attend virtually, and the hearings were livestreamed on the MTA website.

This more flexible format allowed us to hear from a wider audience, including people who cannot travel to Downtown Brooklyn.
