MTA Weekender: August 22-25, 2025

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the penultimate weekend in August! Whether you're heading to the first weekend of the US Open, the final weekend of Summer Streets, or anywhere else in our area, public transit can get you there. 

A heads up for our     riders: there are major changes on these lines this weekend because of track replacement, with no trains running south of Grand Central-42 St. Keep scrolling for more details.

And if you're traveling to JFK airport  this weekend, note that  ​ trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. Take the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the  ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn.
  •   trains aren't running between E 180 St and Bowling Green.
  •   trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.
  •   trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St.
  •   trains aren't running between 168 St and 145 St.
  •   trains are running on the   between 36 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Broadway Junction.

Major subway service changes

    trains, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Crown Hts-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
    •   trains are running local between Woodlawn and Grand Central-42 St.
  •   trains aren't running between E 180 St and Bowling Green.
    •   trains are running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  •   trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.
    •   trains are running local between Pelham Bay Park and Grand Central-42 St.

This is because of track replacement.

   trains, Manhattan

  trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

  •   trains are running between 168 St and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd or Far Rockaway-Mott Av. 

  trains aren't running between 168 St and 145 St in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

  •   trains are running between 145 St and Euclid Av. At 145 St,   trains are stopping at the lower level   platform.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between Inwood-207 St and 168 St, use nearby   stops or take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • Broadway shuttle buses are running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St.
    • Fort Washington Av shuttle buses are running between 190 St and 168 St.
  • For local service between 168 St and 145 St, take the  , which is running local between these stations from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

  trains, Brooklyn

  trains are running on the   between 36 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in both directions from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance. 

  • For service between 36 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Broadway Junction in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work. 

  • Free shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck   and Broadway Junction, making all   stops between 121 St and Broadway Junction.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Broadway Junction, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the  .
  • For service to JFK Airport , take the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport​.
  •   trains are running between Broadway Junction and Broad St.

Other subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Woodlawn-bound train.

  trains, Queens

Flushing-bound   trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point from 3:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday because of structural work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 8 minutes.

    trains, Queens

Forest Hills-bound   and Jamaica-bound    local trains are running nonstop from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to Forest Hills-71 Av from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station maintenance.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound local train. 

   trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound   and Court Sq-bound   trains are running express from Church Av to Smith-9 Sts from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Coney Island-bound   or Church Av-bound  .
