MTA Weekender: December 19-22, 2025

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the third weekend in December! The holiday season is in full swing, and as we say goodbye to 2025, we're also bidding farewell to MetroCard—including with a new exhibit at the Transit Museum in Brooklyn, new MetroCard merch at the Transit Museum Store, and special food collaborations available through December 31.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester
  •   trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the   from DeKalb Av to Canal St.
  • Brooklyn-bound   trains are running on the   from Canal St to DeKalb Av.

Major subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  •   trains are running between Parkchester and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization.

  • For service between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, take free B98 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  • When exiting the subway at Court Sq, Lorimer St (Metropolitan Av), or Bedford-Nostrand Avs, get a GO Ticket from a station agent for re-entry.
  •   trains are running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.

     trains, Manhattan and Brooklyn

  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the   from DeKalb Av to Canal St.
  • Brooklyn-bound   and   local trains are running on the   from Canal St to DeKalb Av.
  • Manhattan-bound   and   local trains are running express from 59 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and on the   to Canal St, skipping DeKalb Av.
  • Manhattan-bound   local trains are running express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and skipping DeKalb Av.
  • During late nights,  trains aren't running between Whitehall St-South Ferry and 59 St in either direction.
    •   trains are running between 59 St and Bay Ridge-95 St. All trains are boarding from the Bay Ridge-bound platform at 59 St, Bay Ridge Av, and 77 St.

This is because of electrical work and track replacement.

  • For service to/from stations between Canal St and DeKalb Av, take a Manhattan-bound   or   train. Or, use nearby    or   stations in Manhattan or Borough Hall     in Brooklyn.
  • For service to/from stations between 36 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take a Bay Ridge- or Coney Island-bound local train.
  • During late nights:
    • For service to/from stations between Whitehall St-South Ferry and DeKalb Av, take a Manhattan-bound  .
    • For service to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take    trains.
    • For service to/from local stations between Union St and 25 St, take a Coney Island-bound    local train.
    • For service to/from 45 St and 53 St, take a Coney Island-bound  .
  • At Canal St, uptown   trains are stopping at the   platform and Brooklyn-bound   and   local trains are stopping at the   platform.
  •   trains are running every 10 minutes during the day and evening.

Other subway service changes

  trains, Manhattan

Uptown   trains are running nonstop from 96 St to 145 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown train.

  trains, Queens

Manhattan-bound   trains are running express from Mets-Willets Point to 74 St-Broadway from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance. 

  • Manhattan-bound   trains are also skipping 74 St-Broadway from 5:45 a.m. to noon Sunday.
  • For service to/from bypassed stations except 103 St-Corona Plaza, take a Flushing-bound train.
  • For service to/from 103 St-Corona Plaza, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Junction Blvd, 103 St-Corona Plaza, and 111 St in both directions.
  •   trains are running every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

   trains, Brooklyn

Euclid Av-bound   and Queens-bound   local trains aren't stopping at Ralph Av and Rockaway Av from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound local train.

  trains, the Bronx

Norwood-bound   trains aren't stopping at 170 St or 174-175 Sts from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • At Tremont Av, all trains are boarding from the Manhattan-bound platform.

  trains, Brooklyn

From 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Coney Island-bound   trains aren't stopping at Avenue U and Neck Rd because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
