MTA Weekender: December 5-8, 2025

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the first weekend in December! The holiday season is getting into full swing, and the Transit Museum's beloved holiday nostalgia rides are back, with vintage 1930s subway cars running between 2 Av on the   and 96 St on the   every Sunday in December, all for the price of a tap.

And a heads up for   and   riders: Starting Monday, weekday service will change, with   and   service permanently swapping routes between Manhattan and Queens to improve reliability. Service at night and on weekends will stay the same. Learn more about the change.

Finally, Metro-North riders take note: Alcohol will be prohibited on trains and in stations on the New Haven Line and Danbury, New Canaan, and Waterbury branches from 4 a.m. Saturday until noon Sunday to maintain safe and orderly travel during this weekend's SantaCon in Fairfield.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
  •   trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester.
  •   trains aren't running between Rockaway Blvd and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd.
  • Bay Ridge-bound   trains are running on the   from Canal St to DeKalb Av.
  •   trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Kings Hwy and are running in two sections.

Major subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 238 St.
  •   trains are running between 238 St and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  •   trains are running between Parkchester and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

  trains, Queens

From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday:

  •   trains aren't running between Rockaway Blvd and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd in either direction.
    •   trains are running between Inwood-207 St and Howard Beach-JFK Airport or Far Rockaway-Mott Av.
    • Howard Beach- and Far Rockaway-bound   trains aren't stopping at Rockaway Blvd or 88 St.

This is because of accessibility work.

  • For service to/from affected stations, take free shuttle buses, which are running between 80 St and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd, making all   stops.

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Bay Ridge-bound   and Coney Island-bound   local trains are running on the   from Canal St to DeKalb Av.
    • At Canal St, Bay Ridge-bound   and Coney Island-bound   local trains are stopping at the   platform.
  • During late nights,   trains aren't running between Whitehall St-South Ferry and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction, and are running nonstop between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St in both directions.
    • Late-night  ​​ trains are running between Bay Ridge-95 St and 36 St and nonstop to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations in Manhattan, use nearby    or   stations.
  • For service to/from Court St and Jay St-MetroTech, use nearby Borough Hall    .
  • During late nights:
    • For service to/from DeKalb Av, take    trains.
    • For service between Union St and 25 St, take    trains.

  trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

  trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Kings Hwy in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance. 

  •   trains are running in two sections, every 10 minutes during the day and evening:
    • Between 96 St and 34 St-Herald Sq, skipping 49 St in the uptown direction overnight.
    • Between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  • For service between 34 St-Herald Square and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take     trains.
    •   trains are stopping at DeKalb Av all weekend.
  • For service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Kings Hwy, take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • Local between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Kings Hwy, making all   stops.
    • Nonstop between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Kings Hwy.
  • For direct service between Manhattan or Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take     trains.
  • When exiting the subway at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, Prospect Park, or Kings Hwy, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

Other subway service changes

    trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound    and   local trains are running nonstop from Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Flatbush Av-bound   or New Lots Av-bound   or   local train.
  •    trains are running every 12 minutes during the day and evening.

   trains, the Bronx

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, Wakefield-bound   and Eastchester-bound   trains are running nonstop from 3 Av-149 St to E 180 St because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, the Bronx

Woodlawn-bound   trains aren't stopping at Mosholu Pkwy from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday because signal maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, Queens

Flushing-bound   trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • At Junction Blvd, all trains are boarding from the Manhattan-bound platform.
  •   trains are running every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

   trains, Manhattan

Downtown    and   local trains are running nonstop from 125 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown local train.

  trains, the Bronx and Manhattan

Norwood-bound   trains are running express from 145 St to Tremont Av from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Coney Island-bound train.

  trains, Manhattan

Uptown   trains aren't stopping at 14 St and 23 St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown train.
