MTA Weekender: January 23-26, 2026

There are minimal planned service changes, but a winter storm may impact how you get around the region this weekend.
Updated January 23, 2026 12:00 p.m.

Happy Friday and welcome to the last weekend of the first month of 2026! A winter storm is scheduled to hit our area Sunday and Monday, and most planned service changes this weekend are canceled as a result. There are still changes affecting the   and   on Saturday, as well as the LIRR and Metro-North.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • There may be changes to subway, bus, and rail service in addition to the ones outlined below.
  • Be careful when entering and exiting trains and buses, and don't run on wet or icy surfaces.
  • On Sunday and Monday, when weather may be severe, it will be safer not to travel at all if you can avoid it.

You can also read more about how we prepare for winter weather.

And don't forget to sign up for the MTA Weekender newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get these service changes directly in your inbox, with more than enough time to plan your weekend travel.
