MTA Weekender: March 13-16, 2026

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday the 13th and welcome to the second weekend in March! We hope you enjoyed our brief sojourn into Fool's Spring, and while we may now be feeling the chill of Second Winter, Actual Spring and its warmer days are getting ever closer.

Here's what's happening on the subway this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •    trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
  •    trains are running on the   between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Jay St-MetroTech.
  •   trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
  •   trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St and are running in two sections.
  •   trains are running on the   via Roosevelt Island between 36 St and 57 St-7 Av.
  •   Rockaway Park Shuttle isn't running.

Major subway service changes

   trains, the Bronx

   trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

  •   trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St.
    • Between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.
  •   trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St all weekend, every 12 minutes.
    • Between Bowling Green and 149 St-Grand Concourse during the day and evening, every 20 minutes.
      • 149 St-bound trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse. For service to/from this station, take the   .

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse, take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • Local, making all    stops between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
    • Nonstop between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
  • When exiting the subway at E 180 St, 3 Av-149 St, or 149 St-Grand Concourse, get a GO Ticket from a station agent for re-entry.
  • Metro-North is accommodating subway riders at no additional cost for travel between the Bronx and Manhattan at stations between Wakefield and Grand Central on the Harlem and New Haven lines.

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

   trains are running on the   between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Jay St-MetroTech in both directions from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal maintenance.

  • For service between Spring St and Chambers St (World Trade Center), take the  .
  • For service to/from Fulton St, take the   or use nearby World Trade Center  .
  • For service to/from High St, use nearby York St  .

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, take free B98 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  • When exiting the subway at Court Sq, Lorimer St (Metropolitan Av), or Bedford-Nostrand Avs, get a GO Ticket from a station agent for re-entry.
  •   trains are running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St and are running in two sections:

  • Between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza.
    • At Queensboro Plaza, all   trains are boarding from the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • Between Times Sq-42 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the  .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St    .
  • For service to/from 57 St-7 Av and 49 St, take    trains.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains are running on the   via Roosevelt Island between 36 St and 57 St-7 Av in both directions all day Saturday and Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza, take the  .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St    .
  • During the evening, some Queens-bound   trains will terminate at Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.

  Rockaway Park Shuttle, Queens

Rockaway Park Shuttle trains aren't running from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization.

  • For service between Beach 90 St and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and connecting to Beach 67 St  .

Other subway service changes

    trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound    and   local trains are running nonstop from Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Flatbush Av-bound   or New Lots Av-bound   or   local train.
  •    trains are running every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  • From 3:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, Flatbush Av-bound   and New Lots Av-bound   trains are also skipping Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum because of the 2026 NYC Half Marathon.
    • Use nearby Grand Army Plaza or Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College.

   trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound   and Bedford-Nostrand Avs-bound   trains are running express from Church Av to Smith-9 Sts from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Coney Island-bound   or Church Av-bound  .

   trains, Brooklyn

Jamaica Center-bound   and Middle Village-bound   trains are running nonstop from Marcy Av to Myrtle Av from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

City Terminal Zone

From 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, westbound trains aren't stopping at Kew Gardens and Forest Hills and westbound trains from Jamaica aren't stopping at Woodside. This is because of accessibility work.

  • Westbound trains are running nonstop from Jamaica to Manhattan. Port Washington Branch trains are still stopping at Woodside.
  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take the subway.
    • Show your LIRR ticket to enter the subway at no additional cost at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport  , Kew Gardens-Union Tpke   , Forest Hills-71 Av   , or Woodside-61 St  .
