MTA Weekender: May 1-4, 2026

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday, and welcome to the first weekend in May! It's a busy weekend: The Knicks are advancing to in the NBA playoffs, the Kentucky Derby is Saturday, and the annual Five Boro Bike Tour is happening Sunday. That last one will impact bus service this weekend due to street closures; be sure to check the MTA app for the latest updates. If you are participating, and planning to take the subway to the starting line, follow our guide to bringing your bike on transit to ensure you get to the start safely.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
  •    trains aren't running between Crown Hts-Utica Av and New Lots Av.
  • Inwood-bound   and 168 St-bound   trains are running on the   from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq.
  • Coney Island-bound   trains are running on the   from 36 St to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Brighton Beach and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •   Rockaway Park Shuttle trains aren't running.

Major subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between 238 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
  •   trains are running between 238 St and South Ferry, every 8 minutes. 

   trains, Brooklyn

  and   local trains aren't running between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement work.

  • For service between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av, take free B99 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations, making all    stops.
  •   trains are running between Harlem-148 St and Crown Heights-Utica Av during the day and evening, every 12 minutes.
  •   trains are running between Woodlawn and Crown Heights-Utica Av all weekend.

    trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Inwood-bound   and 168 St-bound   trains are running on the   from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq because of track work.

  • For service to/from High St, use nearby York St  .
  • For service to/from Fulton St, take the   or use nearby World Trade Center  .
  • For service to/from Chambers St/World Trade Center and Canal St, take the   or a downtown   .
  • For service to/from Spring St, take the  , or downtown   or   local train.

  trains, Brooklyn

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, Coney Island-bound   trains are running on the   from 36 St to Coney Island-Stillwell Av because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, Brooklyn

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday,   trains aren't running between Brighton Beach and Coney Island-Stillwell Av because of track replacement. 

  • For service between Brighton Beach and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take free B109 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations, making all   stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Brighton Beach, W 8 St-NY Aquarium, or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For direct service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take    trains.
  •   trains are running between 96 St and Brighton Beach.

  Rockaway Park Shuttle, Queens

Rockaway Park Shuttle trains aren't running from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Broad Channel, take the  .
  • For service between Beach 90 St and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and connecting to Beach 67 St  .

Other subway service changes

Several trains are skipping stops in one direction from Friday night to early Monday morning, unless otherwise specified. For service to/from skipped stops, take a train going the opposite direction:

  • Eastchester-bound   trains are running express from E 180 St to Eastchester-Dyre Av, stopping only at Pelham Pkwy.
    • At Pelham Pkwy, all trains board from the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • Flushing-bound   trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point.
    • At Junction Blvd, all trains board from the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • Manhattan-bound   trains aren't stopping at Sutphin Blvd. Manhattan-bound   and   trains aren't stopping at Briarwood and 75 Av.
  • Coney Island-bound   trains are running express from Smith-9 Sts to Kings Hwy.
    • For service to/from 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Pkwy, take the   instead.
