MTA Weekender: October 2-5, 2026

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy October, riders! We're getting spoiled athletically this year—two more of our New York sports teams are having a great postseason. If you're heading out to a Liberty or Yankees watch party this weekend, read on for how our weekend work might affect your journey.

Here's the major changes for this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running between Hunts Point Av and 125 St.
  •   trains aren't running between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av. 
  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running normally from Queens to Manhattan, then on the   from 5 Av/53 St to 2 Av. 
  • Jamaica Center-bound   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to W 4 St-Wash Sq, then running normally from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Queens.
  •   ​trains aren't running between 8 Av and Lorimer St.
  •   Rockaway Park Shuttle isn't running.

Major subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

From 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Hunts Point Av and 125 St because of track replacement.

  •   trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Pelham Bay Park and Hunts Point Av, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
    • Between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St and on the   to/from 149 St-Hostos, every 8 minutes during the day and evening. Uptown trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse.
  • For service between Hunts Point Av and 125 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations along two routes:
    • Local, making all   stops.
    • Nonstop between Hunts Point Av and 125 St. 
  • When exiting the subway at Hunts Point Av or 125 St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

   trains, Queens

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av.
    •   trains are running between Inwood-207 St and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd or Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St.
  •   Rockaway Park Shuttle isn't running.

This is because of track work.

  • For service between Beach 67 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av, take free T354 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and Beach 90 St making all   stops.
  • For service between Broad Channel and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, take the  .

    trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running normally from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer to 5 Av/53 St, then on the   after 5 Av/53 St to 2 Av. 
  • Jamaica Center-bound   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to W 4 St-Wash Sq, then running normally from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer.
  • Downtown   and   local trains are running express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St. 

This is because of track and signal work.

  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the  .
  • For service to/from 42 St-Port Authority, 34 St-Penn Station, and 14 St, use nearby   stations or take the   
  • For service to/from 50 St and 23 St, take uptown    trains.
  • For service to/from Spring St, take an uptown   or   local train.
  • For service to/from Canal St and Chambers St (World Trade Center), take    trains.

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

  trains aren't running between 8 Av and Lorimer St in either direction from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of communications and track work.

  • Free shuttle buses are running along two routes:
    • L92 in Manhattan, making all   stops between 8 Av and 1 Av and connecting with     trains at Delancey St-Essex St. M14A-SBS buses also make these stops.
    • T422 in Brooklyn, between Bedford Av  , Metropolitan Av/Lorimer St   , Broadway  , Hewes St   , and Marcy Av   .
  • For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, transfer to/from    trains at Broadway Junction or   trains at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
  •  ​ trains are running between Lorimer St and Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway.

From 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday,  ​ trains are running between Metropolitan Av-Middle Village and 96 St ​in both directions. ​ 

  •  trains are running between Metropolitan Av and Lexington Av/63 St and on the  ​ between Lexington Av/63 St and 96 St.

Other subway service changes

Several trains are skipping stops in one direction from early Saturday morning to Sunday evening, unless otherwise specified. For service to/from skipped stops, take a train going the opposite direction.

  • Downtown   trains are running nonstop from 137 St to 96 St. 
  • On Saturday, Dyre Av-bound   trains aren't stopping at Morris Park, Gun Hill Rd, and Baychester Av. 
    • All trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform at Pelham Pkwy.
  • Flushing-bound   trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point. 
    • All trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform at Junction Blvd.
  • Manhattan-bound   trains aren't stopping at Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I. 
    • All trains are stopping at the Coney Island-bound platform at 18 Av.
  • Astoria-bound   trains are running nonstop from Queensboro Plaza to Astoria Blvd.

Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad service changes

City Terminal Branch

From 11 p.m. on Friday to 2:30 a.m. on Monday, LIRR service isn't running between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica because of track maintenance. Take the subway instead. LIRR riders can enter the subway at no cost at several stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn for alternate service—check City Terminal service alerts for a full list of stations.
