Happy Friday, readers and riders! No matter what you're doing this weekend—we'll be at our New York Transit Museum Bus Festival, but it should be a beautiful early-fall weekend for whatever you're getting up to—we hope that you take public transit to get there.
If you ride LIRR in the city, heads up: trains aren't running between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica all weekend. LIRR riders can enter the subway at no cost at several stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn for alternate service—check the Planned Work lookup tool for a full list of stations.
And if you're headed to JFK Airport this weekend, consider taking the LIRR from Manhattan and Queens. You can also take the to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.
Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):
- There is no service at Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
- trains aren't running between Hunts Point Av and 125 St.
- trains aren't running between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av.
- trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, and are running in three sections.
- trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Kew Gardens-Union Tpke.
- trains are running in two sections.
- Rockaway Park Shuttle isn't running.

Major subway service changes
trains, the Bronx
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, there is no service at Van Cortlandt Park-242 St because of station work. trains are running between South Ferry and 238 St.
- For service to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between 238 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
- trains are running between 238 St and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
trains, the Bronx
From 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Hunts Point Av and 125 St because of track replacement.
- trains are running in two sections:
- Between Pelham Bay Park and Hunts Point Av, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
- Between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St and on the to/from 149 St-Hostos, every 8 minutes during the day and evening. Uptown trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse.
- For service between Hunts Point Av and 125 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations along two routes:
- Local, making all stops.
- Nonstop.
- When exiting the subway at Hunts Point Av or 125 St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
trains, Queens
From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:
- trains aren't running between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av.
- trains are running between Inwood-207 St and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd or Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St.
- Rockaway Park Shuttle isn't running.
This is because of track work.
- For service between Beach 67 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av, take free T354 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and Beach 90 St making all stops.
- For service between Broad Channel and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, take the .
trains, Manhattan and Brooklyn
From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction, and are running in three sections:
- Between Norwood-205 St and 34 St-Herald Sq.
- As a shuttle, between West 4 St-Wash Sq and Grand St, stopping at Broadway-Lafayette St, every 20 minutes.
- Between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
- During late nights, trains are running express in both directions between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St.
This is because of structural work.
- For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take trains.
- For service to/from W 4 St-Wash Sq and Broadway-Lafayette St, take the or shuttle train.
- For service to/from Grand St, take the shuttle train, or use nearby Canal St and East Broadway .
- For local service during late nights between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take the .
trains, Queens
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Kew Gardens-Union Tpke in either direction because of track work.
- Free shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Kew Gardens-Union Tpke, making all stops.
- The LIRR will accommodate subway riders between Queens and Manhattan for no additional cost at Jamaica, Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, Woodside, Grand Central, and Penn Station.
- If you're heading to JFK Airport, consider taking the LIRR. You can also take the to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.
- trains are running between World Trade Center and Kew Gardens-Union Tpke and on the to Jamaica-179 St.
trains, Brooklyn
From 4 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, trains are running in two sections:
- Between 8 Av and Broadway Junction, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
- Between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, every 10 minutes during the day and evening.
This is because of signal work.
- Transfer at Broadway Junction to continue your trip.
- At Broadway Junction, trains to/from Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy are stopping at platforms.
Other subway service changes
Several trains are skipping stops in one direction from Friday night to early Monday morning, unless otherwise specified. For service to/from skipped stops, take a train going the opposite direction.
Brooklyn
- Coney Island-bound trains are running express from Smith-9th Sts to Kings Hwy.
- Church Av-bound trains aren't stopping at 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy.
- From early Saturday morning to late Sunday evening, Manhattan-bound trains aren't stopping at Flushing Av, Lorimer St, and Hewes St.
- During this time, late night trains are running to/from Delancey St-Essex St.
- From early Saturday morning to late Sunday evening, Manhattan-bound trains are running nonstop from Kings Hwy to 59 St.
The Bronx
- On Saturday, Dyre Av-bound trains aren't stopping at Morris Park, Gun Hill Rd, and Baychester Av.
- Trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform at Pelham Pkwy during this time.
Manhattan
- From early Saturday morning to late Sunday evening, downtown trains are running nonstop from 137 St-City College to 96 St.
- Downtown and local trains are running express from 125 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
Queens
- From early Saturday morning to late Sunday evening, Astoria-bound trains are running nonstop from Queensboro Plaza to Astoria Blvd.
- Manhattan-bound and local trains aren't stopping at 65 St, Northern Blvd, 46 St, Steinway St and 36 St.

City Terminal Branch
From 11 p.m. on Friday to 2:30 a.m. on Monday, LIRR service isn't running between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica for track maintenance. Take the subway instead. LIRR riders can enter the subway at no cost at several stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn for alternate service—check City Terminal service alerts for a full list of stations.
