168 St Interim Bus Terminal

MTA New York City Transit has constructed an interim bus terminal that will temporarily replace the existing 165 St/Jamaica Bus Terminal at 89-21 165 St in Jamaica, Queens. The former bus terminal has been acquired by a developer, requiring the MTA and NICE Bus to vacate the premises at the end of May 2025. The buses formerly operating from the existing 165 St/Jamaica Bus Terminal have relocated temporarily to the 168 St Interim Bus Terminal located at 90-01 168 St.

The locations of the former and the interim bus terminal sites are important for MTA customers, as they provide a centralized transfer point for passengers traveling between Southeastern Queens and Nassau County. The terminal sites' proximity to the Jamaica Av commercial corridor is also important for the economic development and investment of the Greater Jamaica area.

It is MTA New York City Transit's intent to return to the 165 St site once it has been redeveloped.

• Enhances the flow of buses and passengers and upholds all current transfer points between bus routes.
• Enables buses to operate off-street on broader thoroughfares.
• Ensures continued access to the bustling Jamaica Av commercial district for bus routes arriving from Hillside Av.

Since 2023, the MTA has met with all key community stakeholders that surround the site to notify them of our intention to temporarily relocate the bus terminal. The MTA will continue to keep stakeholders informed of all key developments of the project.
