MTA Weekender: August 21-24, 2026

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Welcome to another packed summer weekend in New York! On Saturday, Summer Streets is back for its last hurrah in Brooklyn and the Bronx. In Queens, the US Open Fan Week starts at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. If you're headed out this weekend, read on to find out how service changes may affect your trip. 

A major heads up for   train riders: this weekend is the start of a nine-day continuous service suspension at Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy. From late night starting August 21 to early morning on August 31, there is no   service at Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy. Keep reading here for how this affects you this weekend, and see more details and find service alternatives for the rest of the week

In addition to the   work, here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  • There is no   service at Norwood-205 St. 
  •   trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs. 
  •   trains aren't running between Manhattan and Queens, and are running in two sections.
  •   trains are running on the   via Roosevelt Island between Manhattan and Queens.

Major subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx and Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, there is no   service at Norwood-205 St because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from Norwood-205 St, take free shuttle buses between Bedford Park Blvd and Norwood-205 St.
  •   trains are running between Bedford Park Blvd and Coney Island-Stillwell Av all weekend.

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs because of signal modernization.

  • For service between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, take free T403 shuttle buses, which are making all  stops between those stations. 
  • When exiting the subway at Court Sq, Lorimer St (Metropolitan Av), or Bedford-Nostrand Avs, get a GO Ticket from a station agent for re-entry.
  •   trains are running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av, every 10 minutes during the day and evening.

  trains, Brooklyn

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy because of track work, part of a larger project to upgrade switches at Rockaway Parkway

  • For service between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, take free T426 shuttle buses, which are running between those stations along two routes:
    • Local, making all   stops.
    • Nonstop.
  • When exiting the subway at Broadway Junction or Junius St   (Livonia Av), get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •   trains are running between 8 Av and Broadway Junction, approximately every 8 minutes during the day and evening and 12 minutes overnight.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, and are running in two sections:

  • Between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza.
  • Between Times Sq-42 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, express between Times Sq and Canal St.

This is because of track replacement. 

  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the  .
  • At Queensboro Plaza, all   trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St    .
  • For service to/from 57 St-7 Av, 49 St, 28 St, 23 St, 8 St-NYU, and Prince St, take    trains.
    •   trains are running local in both directions.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains are running on the   via Roosevelt Island between 36 St and 57 St-7 Av in both directions all day Saturday and Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza, take the  .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St    .

Other subway service changes

Several trains are skipping stops in one direction from Friday night to early Monday morning, unless otherwise specified. For service to/from skipped stops, take a train going the opposite direction.

  • From early Saturday morning to Sunday night, Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester.
