On Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
- The subway will run on a Saturday schedule. Many weekend service changes will continue through Monday. Keep reading for more details.
- Most buses will run on a modified weekday schedule. Some express bus routes will run on a special schedule.
- The LIRR will run on a weekday schedule, but off-peak fares will be valid all day.
- Metro-North will run on a Saturday schedule with added peak service on the Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven lines; a weekend schedule with added peak service on the Port Jervis Line; and a weekend schedule on the Pascack Valley Line.
If you're traveling to JFK airport this holiday weekend, note that trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport until Monday morning. Take the to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.
Here's what else is happening on the subway this weekend (also viewable as a map):

Major subway service changes
trains, Manhattan
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, trains aren't running between 168 St and 137 St-City College in either direction and are running in two sections:
- Between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 168 St, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
- Between 137 St-City College and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
This is because of structural maintenance.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take free shuttle buses, which are running between 168 St and 137 St-City College making all stops. Or, use nearby stations.
- When exiting the subway at 168 St or 137 St-City College, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
trains, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan
From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday:
- trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Crown Heights-Utica Av or New Lots Av in either direction.
- trains are running between Woodlawn and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, local in Manhattan.
- trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green in either direction.
- trains are running every 12 minutes between Eastchester-Dyre Av and Grand Central-42 St during the day and evening.
- During the day and evening, trains are running every 8 minutes while trains share the local track.
This is because of station work.
- For service between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, take trains.
- For service to Fulton St, Wall St, and Bowling Green, use nearby or stations.
- For service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take trains.
- For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take the , which is running to/from New Lots Av all weekend, including overnight.
trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan
From 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday:
- 96 St-bound trains are running on the from DeKalb Av to Canal St to provide alternate service while trains aren't able to access the track between these stations.
- Queens-bound and local trains are running express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and on the to Canal St, skipping DeKalb Av.
- Manhattan-bound local trains are running express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and are skipping DeKalb Av.
- During late nights, trains aren't running between Whitehall St-South Ferry and 59 St in either direction.
This is because of track maintenance.
- For service to/from stations between 36 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take a Bay Ridge-bound or Coney Island-bound local train.
- For service to/from stations between DeKalb Av and Canal St, take a 96 St-bound .
- During late nights:
- For service to/from stations between Whitehall St-South Ferry and DeKalb Av, take a 96 St-bound .
- For service to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take trains.
- For service to/from local stations between Union St and 25 St, take a Coney Island-bound local train.
- For service to/from 45 St and 53 St, take the .
- At Canal St, uptown trains are stopping at the platform and uptown and local trains are stopping at the platform.
trains, Brooklyn
From 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, trains aren't running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av in either direction because of signal modernization.
- For service between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts, take free B93 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and connecting to Jay St-MetroTech .
- For service between Bergen St and Church Av, take the .
trains, Brooklyn and Queens
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction because of track replacement.
- For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck and Crescent St, making all stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
- When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
- For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the .
- For service to JFK Airport , take the to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.
- trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.
trains, Brooklyn
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, trains aren't running between Lorimer St and Broadway Junction and are running in two sections:
- Between 8 Av and Lorimer St, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
- Between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, every 10 minutes during the day and evening.
This is because of track replacement.
- For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take trains.
- For service between Lorimer St and Broadway Junction, take free shuttle buses, which are running on two routes:
- L90 between Lorimer St and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, making all stops.
- Between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Broadway Junction, making all stops.
Other subway service changes
trains, the Bronx
From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound trains are running nonstop from Burnside Av to 149 St-Grand Concourse because of track replacement.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Woodlawn-bound train.
- During the day and evening, trains are running every 8 minutes in Brooklyn and Manhattan and every 16 minutes in the Bronx. The last stop for alternate Bronx-bound trains is 125 St. Transfer to a Woodlawn-bound train to continue your trip.
trains, Queens
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Tuesday, Flushing-bound trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point because of station work.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
- At Junction Blvd, all trains are boarding from the Manhattan-bound platform.
- trains are running every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
trains, Manhattan
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday:
- Downtown and local trains are running nonstop from 125 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
- Uptown and local trains aren't stopping at 50 St.
- Uptown and local trains aren't stopping at Spring St and 23 St.
This is because of accessibility work and track replacement.
- For service between 125 St and 59 St-Columbus Circle, take an uptown local train.
- For service to/from 50 St, take the or a downtown local train.
- For service to/from Spring St and 23 St, take a downtown local train.
trains, Queens
From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, Astoria-bound trains are running nonstop from Queensboro Plaza to Astoria Blvd because of station work.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
trains, Manhattan and Queens
From 7:45 a.m. to 12 noon Sunday, Forest Hills-bound trains are running on the from 57 St-7 Av to 36 St because of signal maintenance.
- trains are stopping at Lexington Av/63 St, Roosevelt Island, and 21 St-Queensbridge.
- For service to/from 5 Av-59 St and Lexington Av/59 St, take the .
- For service to/from Queens Plaza, take the or use nearby Queensboro Plaza .
Long Island Rail Road
City Terminal Zone
From 10:45 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica in either direction because of track maintenance.
- For service to/from Brooklyn, take the subway.
- Show your LIRR ticket to enter the subway at no additional cost at Broadway Junction , Nostrand Av , Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr , or 34 St-Penn Station .
From 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, westbound trains aren't stopping at Forest Hills or Kew Gardens and westbound trains from Jamaica aren't stopping at Woodside. This is because of accessibility work.
- Westbound trains are running nonstop from Jamaica to Manhattan. Port Washington Branch trains are still stopping at Woodside.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take the subway.
- Show your LIRR ticket to enter the subway at no additional cost at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport , Kew Gardens-Union Tpke , Forest Hills-71 Av , or Woodside-61 St .
Port Jefferson Branch
From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Monday, trains are running hourly between Hicksville and Huntington and every two hours between Huntington and Port Jefferson because of crossing repairs.
