MTA Weekender: October 24-27, 2025

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the last weekend of October! As we head toward the end of the year and the end of MetroCard sales on December 31, we're announcing a series of limited-edition experiences as we say goodbye to an icon.

A heads up if you're traveling to JFK airport  this weekend: AirTrain JFK will be replaced by shuttle buses between Howard Beach, Lefferts Blvd, Federal Circle, and all airline terminals from 11 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday, and between Jamaica and Federal Circle from 11 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m Sunday. Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Crown Heights-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green.
  •   trains aren't running to/from Flushing-Main St.
  •   trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and are running in two sections.
  •   trains are running on the   between 21 St-Queensbridge and 2 Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy.
  •   Rockaway Park Shuttle isn't running at all.
  •   Staten Island Railway isn't running between St George and Great Kills.

Major subway service changes

    trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Crown Heights-Utica Av or New Lots Av in either direction.
    •   trains are running local between Woodlawn and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.
  •   trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green in either direction.
    •   trains are running every 12 minutes between Eastchester-Dyre Av and Grand Central-42 St during the day and evening.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 8 minutes while    trains share the local track.

This is because of station work.

  • For service between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, take    trains.
  • For service to Fulton St, Wall St, and Bowling Green, use nearby   or   stations.
  • For service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take    trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take the  , which is running to/from New Lots Av all weekend, including overnight.

  trains, Queens

  trains aren't running to/from Flushing-Main St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Flushing-Main St, take free T321 shuttle buses, which are running between Mets-Willets Point and Flushing-Main St.
  •   trains are running between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Mets-Willets Point, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
  • Note: This service change will repeat each weekend through November 24.

    trains, Manhattan and Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains are running on the   between 21 St-Queensbridge and 2 Av.
  • Downtown   and   local trains are running express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St.

This is because of signal modernization.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza, take the   during the day and evening or use nearby Queensboro Plaza   .
  • For service to/from Court Sq-23 St, take the  .
    • During the day and evening, you can also take free Q96 shuttle buses, which are running between 21 St-Queensbridge, Queens Plaza, and Court Sq-23 St.
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/53 St, use nearby Lexington Av/59 St   .
  • For service to/from 5 Av/53 St, use nearby 57 St or 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr.
  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the  .
  • For service to/from stations between 50 St and World Trade Center (Chambers St), take    trains.
    • For local service, take an uptown train.

  trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction, and are running in two sections:

  • Between Norwood-205 St and 34 St-Herald Sq.
  • Between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
    • During late nights,   trains are running express in both directions between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take     trains.
  • For service to/from W 4 St-Wash Sq and Broadway-Lafayette St, take    trains.
  • For service to/from Grand St, use nearby Canal St    , East Broadway  , or free T232 shuttle buses, which are running between W 4 St-Wash Sq, Broadway-Lafayette St, and Grand St.
  • During late nights for local service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take the  .

  trains, Brooklyn

  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take free B90 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  • For direct service between Manhattan or Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take    trains.
  • For service to/from W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the  .
  • When exiting the subway at Church Av or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •   trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

  trains, Brooklyn

  trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, take free T426 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations along two routes:
    • Local, making all   stops.
    • Nonstop.
  • When exiting the subway at Broadway Junction or Junius St   (Livonia Av), get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •   trains are running between 8 Av and Broadway Junction, approximately every 8 minutes during the day and evening and 12 minutes overnight.

  Rockaway Park Shuttle

Rockaway Park Shuttle trains aren't running from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Beach 90 St and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and connecting to Beach 67 St  .

  Staten Island Railway

Trains aren't running between St George and Great Kills in either direction from 1:15 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday because of maintenance.

  • For service between St George and Great Kills, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all stops.

Other subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

Norwood-bound   trains are running express, stopping only at Tremont Av, from 167 St to Fordham Rd from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Babylon Branch

Babylon Branch service is reduced and running on a revised schedule from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • Trains are running every hour during most of the day, and all trains are running run to/from Penn Station.
    • For service to/from Grand Central, transfer at Jamaica.
  • To provide additional service at Babylon Station, many Montauk Branch trains have been extended to and from Jamaica.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

Greenport Service

Trains aren't running between Ronkonkoma and Greenport on Saturday and Sunday because of switch work.

  • For service between Ronkonkoma and Greenport, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

Ronkonkoma Branch

Ronkonkoma Branch service is running on a revised schedule and is reduced east of Farmingdale from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of switch work.

  • Trains are running every hour between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. During the day, every other train will run between Penn Station and Farmingdale only.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

West Hempstead Branch

West Hempstead Branch service isn't running between Valley Stream and West Hempstead in either direction from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Valley Stream and West Hempstead, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • West Hempstead Branch trains are running between Grand Central and Jamaica. Take a Long Beach Branch train to Valley Stream to connect with bus service.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.
