MTA Weekender: August 14-17, 2026

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Welcome to the third weekend of August, readers! The end of summer might be just around the corner, but that doesn't mean New York is slowing down just yet—so if you're heading out for the final weekend of Harlem Week celebrations, the last Summer Streets in Manhattan, or other summer fun, remember that public transit is the best way to get you where you need to go. 

If you're traveling to JFK airport , note that  ​ trains aren't running in Manhattan or most of Brooklyn this weekend. For travel from Manhattan to JFK, take the  ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport or the  ​ to Howard Beach-JFK Airport.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running between 14 St and South Ferry. 
  •   trains aren't running between 34 St-Penn Station and Brooklyn.
  • In the Bronx,   trains are running on the   and   trains are running on the  .
  •   trains aren't running.
  •   trains are running on the   in Brooklyn.
  • There is no   service at Norwood-205 St. 
  •   trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts and Church Av.
  •   trains aren't running in Manhattan or most of Brooklyn. 
  •   trains aren't running between Manhattan and Queens, and are running in two sections.
  •   trains are running on the   via Roosevelt Island between Manhattan and Queens.

Major subway service changes

      trains, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday: 

  •   trains aren't running between 14 St and South Ferry. 
    •   trains are running between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 14 St, every 8 minutes during the day and evening. 
  •   trains aren't running between 34 St-Penn Station and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College. 
    •   trains are running between 34 St-Penn Station and E 180 St and on the   to/from Eastchester-Dyre Av, every 10 minutes during the day and evening. 
  •   trains are suspended. 
  •   trains are running between Woodlawn and New Lots Av, making local stops in Brooklyn (except Hoyt St). 
  •   trains are running between E 180 St and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College, making local stops in Brooklyn (except Hoyt St), and on the   to/from Wakefield-241 St.
  •   42 St Shuttle is running overnight.

  • For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take the      
  • In the Bronx: 
    • Take the   for service between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St. 
    • Take the   for service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St.
  • For service between Harlem-148 St and 135 St, take free shuttle buses, which are making all   stops between these stations.
  • For service between 34 St-Penn Station and 14 St, take the  
  • For service between 14 St and Chambers St, use nearby     stations. 
  • For service between Chambers St and South Ferry, and Chambers St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take nearby     trains. 
  • In Brooklyn: 
    • Take    trains for service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College.
    • Take the   for service to New Lots Av.
    • Take the   for service to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.

  trains, the Bronx and Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, there is no   service at Norwood-205 St because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from Norwood-205 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Bedford Park Blvd and Norwood-205 St.
  •   trains are running between Bedford Park Blvd and Coney Island-Stillwell Av all weekend.

  trains, Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts and Church Av because of signal modernization

  •   trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
    • Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts, every 20 minutes.
    • Transfer at Bedford-Nostrand to continue your trip. 
  • For service to/from stations between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts and Church Av, take   trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts and Jay St-MetroTech, and transfer to/from the  
    • Coney Island-bound   trains are running express from Jay St-MetroTech to Kings Hwy during this time. 

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Crescent St and Broad St because of track work.

  • For service between Crescent St and Myrtle Av, take free T430 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations on two routes:
    • Local, making all   stops.
    • Express, stopping only at Broadway Junction.
  • For service between Myrtle Av and Broad St, take the  , which is replacing the   between these stations.
  • For direct service to Manhattan, take     trains.
  • When exiting the subway at Crescent St or Myrtle Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •   trains are running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  •   trains are running between between Metropolitan Av and Delancey St-Essex St and on the   to Broad St.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, and are running in two sections:

  • Between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza.
  • Between Times Sq-42 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, express between Times Sq and Canal St.

This is because of track replacement. 

  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the  .
  • At Queensboro Plaza, all   trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St    .
  • For service to/from 57 St-7 Av, 49 St, 28 St, 23 St, 8 St-NYU, and Prince St, take    trains.
    •   trains are running local in both directions.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains are running on the   via Roosevelt Island between 36 St and 57 St-7 Av in both directions all day Saturday and Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza, take the  .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St    .

Other subway service changes

Several trains are skipping stops in one direction from Friday night to early Monday morning, unless otherwise specified. For service to/from skipped stops, take a train going the opposite direction.

  • From early Saturday morning to Sunday night, Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester. 
  • Coney Island-bound   trains are running express from Jay St-MetroTech to Kings Hwy.
  • From early Saturday morning to Sunday night, Coney Island-bound   trains aren't stopping at Avenue U or Neck Rd.
